In 1980 Jim Chapman went to work for Huntington Piano Company. Opened in 1967, it is the longest running piano store in the state of West Virginia. In 2007 when the original founder, George Fotos retired, Jim purchased the company and changed the name to Tri State Piano. Jim’s shop offers piano sales, rebuilding and refinishing to the Tri State area. He resides in Huntington with his wife Theresa and daughter Mary.
Kanawha Piano Gallery was opened in 2013 by local piano technician, Shane Lowther. Shane is a graduate of the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology, which is the largest school in North America teaching piano technology. Shane is also a Certified Dampp-Chaser Installer, Certified QRS PNOMation Technician and an Associate Member of the Piano Technicians Guild. Shane has attended PTG training events in Kansas City, Charlotte, Nashville, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Bethlehem, PA. Furthermore, Shane has completed extensive training at Montana State University with Randy Potter, RPT, president of the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology. Shane is a 2005 graduate of REC W School of Audio and Music Production, Chillicothe, OH. Shane resides in Charleston with his wife Brandy and their two sons.
